  • Do you have to be a physician to own a franchise?

    Not at all. Diversity Family Health was founded by a nurse practitioner. If the owner is not able to provide medical care then they will need to hire providers or contract with a provider or provider group to provide direct patient medical care

    There may be laws in your state that require a management agreement between the company and a provider group so there is a deliniation between the operation of the company and provision of medical care. Additionally, there may need to be a contracted supervising physician for nurse practitioners.


    Bottom line... You need to be aware of the regulations to practice medicine in your location.

  • What will Diversity Family Health provide?

    When you become a Diversity Family Health franchise owner you become part of a network of clinics focused on breaking down barriers to healthcare for the LGBTQ community and pulls on the combined experience of that network to innovate ways to meet that goal.


    From the beginning Diversity Family Health provides support and consultation to create your business. Initially the corporate office works with you to develop corporate structure, management agreements,  site selection, technology, equipment and supply purchasing. We then provide assistance with credentialling with insurances, setup of government and grant programs, hiring staff and developing relationships within the community.


    Diversity Family Health provides over 40 hours of training through online and onsite training at our corporate office and clinic location where you will experience first hand the model of success. During that training you will be provided an Operations Manual that will contain a plethora of forms, checklists, and guidelines to reference during startup and operation. The corporate internet is also provided for further resources and direct access to up to date information.


    Once ready to open Diversity Family Health will provide marketing assistance and tools needed for a grand opening. Our staff will be available to be onsite during the initial days and as needed to answer questions and tailor the Diversity Family Health experience for your community.


    Through the corporate internet, provider blogs, and real time email and phone support, corporate staff will continue to provide support to innovate and trouble shoot issues as they come up.   • Why such a wide range for total investment?

    Diversity family health was started in an LGBTQ community center with a one room clinic with one provider performing all duties. This initial clinic then grew to a stand alone four exam room clinic with full staff. Therefore, the franchise model was developed to focus on providing access through minimum requirements of a one room clinic or a larger clinc based on the capability of the franchisee. The main goal is providing access to care for the community.

  • How do I make money?

    Diversity Family Health is a for profit private practice company. As with other health care facilities the business is funded by commercial insurance, medicare/medicaid programs, and self pay options.


    In addition there are government programs and grant funding available to providers of care for the LGBTQ community. As a Diversity Family Health franchise these programs are accessed as part of start up and your company is shepharded through the sometime confusing and complex process.


    Diversity Family Health provides serveral elective or aesthetic procedures focused on the needs of the community as an additional line of income.


    Lastly,  Diversity Family Health has a product line that includes specially formulated private labeled items and third party items that have been selected to support the clinical needs of our patients. Margins on these products are optimized to provide franchisees with obove average return on investment.

  • How many employees do I need?

    The goal of Diversity Family Health is to get access to the LGBTQ community and has a model that is scalable depending on the capability of the franchise owner and need in the specific community.


    Diversity Family Health was initially started with a Nurse Practitioner who worked in a one room clinic and provided "comprehensive care". In a shared waiting room there was a door bell on a sign that said "If we are not here to greet you we are with another patient. Please ring the bell and we will be with your shortly" The nurse practioner registered the patient, took their vital signs, did the exam, drew the lab, made the referrals, etc. Billing was done through the EMR and though the assistance of a family friend. Soon the word got out and a virtual assistant was hired to answer phones and assist patients when not in clinic. 


    As this little clinic continued to grow in popularity with the LGBTQ community the move to a larger clinic space and addition of support staff was needed.


    To answer the question... The number of employees can vary from none (other than the provider) to a full staff including receptionist, medical assistant, nurse, case manager, outreach coordinator, and other providers. The Diversity Family Health corporate staff can assist with innovative ways to meet the goal of providing access and train staff as they are needed.

  • Why are franchises not available on some states?

    Federal Trade Commission regulations prohibit Diversity Family Health from offering franchises in states where it is not registered. That is why currently franchises are not offered in CA, CT, HI, IL, IN, KY, MD, MI, MN, NE, NC, ND, NY, RI, SC, SD, UT, VA, WA or WI.
